Coffee Enema

The Coffee Enema contains caffeine, and it's the caffeine, theophylline and theobromine that combine to stimulate the relaxation of smooth muscles causing dilatation of blood vessels and bile ducts! The effects of having a coffee enema are not the same as drinking coffee as the veins of the anus are very close to the surface of the tissue, hence the caffeine is easily and quickly absorbed (and in higher concentration) than it is when coffee is drunk.

Additionally, coffee has a chemical make up that is stimulative and the enzymes in coffee, known as palmitates, help the liver carry away the toxins in bile acid.

The coffee is absorbed into the hemorrhoidal vein and then taken up to the liver by the portal vein. With the bile ducts dilated, bile carries toxins away into the gastro-intestinal tract. Simultaneously, peristaltic activity is encouraged because of the flooding of the lower colon, so, when the colon is evacuated, the toxins and bile are carried out of the body and we are left with a happier and less toxic liver!

What do I need to do a Coffee Enema

1 x enema bucket or bag which has been cleaned
Organic Ground Coffee (Gerson coffee is good), never use instant!
Pure water = Distilled or Reverse Osmosis are best, if not use bottled mineral or spring water
A Jug that holds up to 2 pints of liquid
Time – at least an hour where you are uninterrupted and peaceful
Lots of toilet paper and a toilet
Watch clock or timer
Good book or nice music
Oil, Vaseline or a natural lotion for your botty hole

How Do I do a Coffee Enema

1.Put 1 tablespoons of organic coffee (if you are sensitive and just starting out doing enemas use only 1 teaspoon and gradually use more if and when you feel the need to) and 1 pint of fabulous water into a saucepan and bring this to the boil for 3 minutes without a cover on it (this is so the fat burns off the coffee) then cover the pan and simmer on a low heat for 12 minutes.

2.Sieve the coffee into the jug and then make this up to 2 pints of liquid using more of the fabulous water and so the liquid is approximately at body temperature (I use the finger test) and then this is ready.

3.Place the liquid into the enema bucket and then run off a little liquid to get any air bubbles out... you don't want these bubbles up your bum! You will have an on/off flow tap at the end of the tube.

4.Lie on your RIGHT side with your knees slightly in towards your chest and place a little oil, lotion or Vaseline onto to anus and also onto the catheter (allows the tube to flow in nicely), insert the catheter into your bum slowly and just a little way – don't ram it in and don't poke it up too far! This is delicate tissue so relax and honour it! Oh…and lots of breathing!

5.Turn on the tap and allow the fluid to flow in nice and calmly, if you feel that you can't take any more just turn the tap to off and stop the flow until you feel you can take a little more, and aim to allow all the liquid to enter you. This may take a wee while to start with so don't panic if you can only take in a little, it will depend on the state of your colon at that time, toxic levels at that time and how relaxed you are. What you can manage is PERFECT for you... try and breath deeply. You can either leave the catheter in or remove it… leaving it in can help to release gas sometimes? Up to you.

6.Once you have the coffee inside, you aim to hold it for 11 – 15 minutes, more than 15 can make you feel buzzy as you will start to absorb it. It is nice to maybe read a little, listen to nice relaxing music; remember to take easy deep breaths if you feel sensations and or cramps. DO NOT put yourself through hell though, if you can not hold it, let it out and try again another time, the more you get used to doing an enema the easier it gets to hold them and the cleaner your colon will be!

7.After 11-15 mins has passed, sit on the loo and let it all come out – literally! BLISS. You may need to visit the loo again during the day… that is normal! Drink lots of water and remember that on a coffee enema day try and take up to 3 x 8oz of fresh vegetable juices – carrot and apple are hot favourites with green juices being fabulously cleansing and healing.

The Coffee Enema takes away everything and a little bit more and is best used when on a natural detox diet plan. These support deep cleanses beautifully during the cleanse or at the end to have a good final clear up! They are not to be used willy nilly just because you have had a heavy night partying – this will make you feel rotten, dehydrated and probably pretty ill afterwards (I know that one!). Please respect your body when using an enema, that way they can totally support you.
