Essential Omega Fatty Acids

We often try to avoid fat in our diets because we are trying to lose weight, but did you realise that the right kind of fat can provide endless health benefits which in the long run will help you to achieve optimum health and weight?

Omega Fatty Acids, a polyunsaturated form of fat, cannot be produced naturally in the body, yet the nutrients they provide promote optimum health. Eating foods rich in Omega Fatty Acids can help to support a healthy nervous system, brain growth and development.

Essential Omega Fatty Acids fall into two groups, Omega 3 and Omega 6. Things like flax seeds & oil, pumpkin seeds & oil, hemp seeds & oil, soya oils and walnuts are lovely and high in omega-3 fatty acids, as are salmon, trout, mackarel and sardines. Omega 3 and 6 oils need to be balanced in your diet at a ratio of 2 to 1, (that's 3 - 6).

Flax oil (also known as Linseed), is the best way to find Omega 3 if you ask me. The little seeds (soaked), or the oil are great ways to add this vital and essential oil into your diet daily BUT please don't heat it! Leafy green vegetables also provide a good source of Omega Fatty Acids.

Taking an Omega supplement can do the job, but eating the oil or seeds is often cheaper as it takes approximately 12 capsules to make a desertspoon, which is pretty much what you need on a daily basis!

FLAX OILOmega Fatty Acids have endless health benefits. They support the healthy development of eyes, skin (lovely skin), joints and brain (that's gotta be a seller!). They help to maintain healthy cholesterol levels (another biggy), and promote better circulation and a healthy nervous system. I have even read lately that using correct fatty acid nutrition could help to ‘reprogramme’ your genetic code!

Eating essential goodies adds to a healthier body which is essential for helping your body to cope with the stress thats all around you.

If you really want to know if you are getting enough essential omega oils why not opt for a nutritionfriend consultation, it could change your health!
